Career Resource Center "Don't Cancel Class" Request Form

There's no need to cancel your class. The Career Resource Center, by way of the Don't Cancel Class program, can cover your class by presenting on a number of topics that are relevant to college students. Even if you don't need to cancel a class, you are always welcome to request any of these presentations for your classes throughout the year. Presentations are typically 20- 60 minutes in length, depending on the presentation and your class's schedule.

CRC Overview- Overview of services provided in the Career Resource Center
Resume Writing- Identify activities, credentials and involvement that will help students market
themselves. They will also discuss the context, audience and purpose of a professional resume.

LinkedIn- Learn how to create a good LinkedIn profile and ways employers use it to recruit
employers.

Traitify Career Assessment- Using the Traitify online assessment students will identify careers and work environments that would be satisfying to their personality blend.

Interviewing- Learn about what is required before, during and after an interview. Students will also learn the STAR method to respond to interview questions.

Grad School Planning- Identify activities, credentials and involvement that will help them be successful in the application process students will also research potential programs of interest.

Professional Communication- Learn about branding themselves professionally. Students will also engage in a discussion on clear and thoughtful written and verbal communication.

Professional Branding- How to build their personal brand to demonstrate skills, abilities and attributes with clarity.

Networking Strategies- Learn and practice communication skills in a networking setting.

30 Second Elevator Speech- Students will gain an understanding of the 30 Second Elevator Speech. Students will also refine delivery techniques (posture, eye contact, etc.) to exude a polished , confident and professional personal presentation.

Email Etiquette- Students will understand the context, audience and purpose of electronic communication in a professional setting.

Job/Internship search- Students will learn the basics of resume building, discuss the importance of an online presence and how to utilize their network to help them find a job/internship. Students will also learn the resources available to them through the CRC.

Workplace Etiquette- Students will gain an understanding of the importance of timeliness, proper attire, meeting etiquette and general do's and don'ts of a professional work setting.

MBTI Assessment- Students will learn a basic understanding of the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and how it relates to a career.

StrengthsQuest Coaching- Students will learn and discuss the importance of their own unique strengths as they relate to their job/career search.
